The Best Practice For Small Business Owners Is This...
G'day Everyone...
I'm glad that your reading this article because it answers a question that I get asked all the time.
That question is...Whats the best practice for small business owners?
It can come down to quite a few things, but I will break it down to several things that you need to keep a good eye on.
I think the best practice for small business owners is to test and track everything. If your not doing this you wont know what's working or not.
For example: You could be paying thousands and thousands of dollars that may not be pulling its weight.
I once coached a client that was paying around seven thousand dollars for their ads and when they tested, they found out that it was only resulting in less than 20 phone calls per year.
Now that might be ok for someone that is selling houses or cars and making tens of thousands in profits. But these guys were just poor old carpet cleaners that cant charge that sort of money.
Now...Do you want to know what working or not? You could be throwing money away for nothing.
Fortunately I rewrote their yellow pages ad and it now pulls a couple of hundreds calls a year. So it well and truly pays for itself.
I'm only using the yellow pages as an example! Just don't run ads that aren't paying for themselves. Unless you just break even on the new client and make a heap on the back end from them coming back!
The other things you should be testing is where your leads are coming from, how many of those leads are actually resulting in sales, how many times people come back how much they spend with you each time and what are your margins.
Test and measure these 5 things all the time and make a little goal for yourself to focus on one of those areas each week and try to beat it!
The results will completely astound you! Whatever you can test you can manage!
So...Testing and measuring is THE best practice for small business owners.
